Transition Care
|
For young people with chronic illness or disability. Adolescence can be a turbulent time for any young person but even more daunting if you have the added stress of having to cope with a chronic illness or disability. The GMCT Transition Care Program is a new initiative aimed at improving continuity of care for young people with chronic health problems as they move from paediatric to adult health services. Email Support Group for Young Adults
|
If there are any young adults who would be interested in contacting other young adults by e-mail to chat, or discuss any questions they may have about Lupus, Sjögren’s, Raynaud’s, Mixed Connective Tissue Disease etc. Please contact the
Lupus Association, or email us at
info@lupusnsw.org.au if you are interested. This is a new project and it would be fantastic if young members had a chance to talk and email others going through similar experiences to themselves. If you open this attachment "In the Loop", you will see how easy it is to join this yahoo group. We currently have aprox 15 members aged under 35, and we are looking for more numbers. It is a moderated group, and even though the participants are mostly Australian at this stage we welcome our global neighbours...and it's free to join. If you normally hate support groups you'll love this one :-) |

Reach Out
|
Kelly Davidson, our 'In the Loop' young adult newsletter editor has made contact with a brilliant website which is very easy to navigate, clear, and highly informative. This website is for young people and called,
'Reach Out!'
Reach Out! is a website that helps young people get through tough times. It does this through online information and support which offer an anonymous and stigma-free way for young people to get help, explore issues and discover how other young people are coping with tough times. |

Petition to Start Lupus Queensland

The mission of the Lupus Association of Queensland will be to work towards a world without Lupus and associated connective tissue diseases through support education and research into a cure.
It will have at least six Queenslanders willing to start the Inaugural Management Committee who, in conjunction with all its members, will work towards the formation of a national body representing all lupus patients in Australia and will work with other state based lupus organisations to support and educate their members and local
communities.
